CASSIE CLARE is starring as sorceress Philippa Eilhart in the third installment of popular Netflix hit show The Witcher.
We caught up with Cassie Clare to talk about her recent work.
What can audiences expect from The Witcher?
Expect the unexpected. There are so many twists and turns, interweaving storylines, and lots of action.
What do you think is your character’s ultimate goal?
Oh, now that… is a secret. My character plays her cards very close to her chest. But I can say she has been planning her moves for some time.
Can you recall any funny moments from on-set filming?
There were so many, I recently went through all of my BTS videos and pictures and they had me in tears of laughter. There are so many funny people working on this production.
As an actor, what are you still trying to learn?
I’ll never stop learning, as a human or when it comes to my acting. However, right now, I’m focusing on the courage it takes to always speak your truth and be yourself.
How can you tell when you’re reading a great script?
For me, it’s all about the feelings that come up when I read them, how naturally the words feel to say, and if I start to get that little excited or nervous feeling I get before a performance.
When did you begin to see acting as a potential career avenue?
It was after my mother took me to be a part of the National Youth Theatre. It was the first time I had acted without singing and dancing at the same time. I was 15, when I did my first play for the National Youth Theatre and I loved every moment of it.
How important is social media to you right now?
I would love it if someone was in charge of my socials for me, to be honest. Sometimes I’m in the mood to post what’s on my mind, but mostly it takes up too much time that I would rather use to create something. That’s why I started @CassieClareCreates.
It’s an Instagram page to encourage me to keep creating and collaborating with some of the amazing artists I know. I want to facilitate a safe, artistic place where people can develop and display their talent without fear of having to be perfect.
What’s the biggest realization you’ve had this past year?
That effective communication is key, and there’s lots of ways to develop that skill. There are so many problems in the world, but some of them can be remedied with clear, loving communication.
Everyone seems to have an app idea at the moment, what’s yours?
Oh, I have so many! I feel like I have a different app idea every day, usually because I think of an app I need and can’t find it.
What makes you feel nostalgic?
There are certain songs that remind me of different times in my life, or people I have met, music makes me feel so much. It unlocks, memories, emotions and ideas for me.
